Launch ceremony of a news bulletin in Rajasthani language by the news channel ETV Rajasthan

Jaipur, November 7. Chief Minister Smt. Vasundhara Raje has said that the state government would leave no stone unturned to get constitutional status to Rajasthani language. “This was part of our ‘Suraj Sankalp’ manifesto. It is a long pending demand of the people of the state and all efforts will be made to get it,” she said.

Smt. Raje was speaking at the launch ceremony of a news bulletin in Rajasthani language by the news channel ETV Rajasthan here on Friday. She said that it was needed for the media to verify facts and authenticity of the incidents before circulating the news as it also had a role to keep the social thread of the society unbroken. It was easy to break away than to unite people, she said.

The CM expected the news being telecast to spread only truth and nothing else. “It is important for any news channel or paper to have an image that whatever is published is truth and nothing else. It is important to have such an image in the public,” she stated.

Talking about the pressure being felt by the media houses these days from corporate world, political parties and commercial interests, Smt. Raje said that the journalists should report events and happenings truthfully and without fear. She said that this was time to fight battles by words and not swords. “Selection of words of a journalist should be such that it unites people,” she said.

The CM congratulated ETV Rajasthan for starting Rajasthani news bulletin and reiterated that the people of entire state were part of her extended family.

“Rajasthan spread the message of Unity in Diversity all across the globe. It is time that all citizens of the state progress and propel collectively. Such thinking will bring change and thus development to the state”

She also remembered great poet of this language Shri Kanhaiya Lal Sethia and said that his contribution towards establishing significance of Rajasthan was unforgettable.

Member of Legislative Assembly Shri Ashok Parnami said that the dream of inclusion of Rajasthani in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution would be realized very soon under the leadership of the CM. MLA Shri Bhawani Singh Rajawat said that a news bulletin in Rajasthani was an expectation of the people due since long. Heritage Preservation and Promotion Authority Chairman Shri Onkar Singh Lakhawat said that the inclusion of Rajasthani language would improve employment prospects of the youth from the state.

International Coordinator of the Akhil Bhartiya Rajasthan Manyata Sangharsh Samiti Shri Prem Bhandari thanked the CM for her support to the struggle for constitutional status to the Rajasthani language since very beginning. He argued for imparting education to the children of the state in their mother tongue.

Former director of the Doordarshan Shri Nand Bhardwaj, other dignitaries also addressed the gathering. Prior to this, Head of ETV Channel Shri Jagdish Chandra welcomed all. Folk dance performances like Ghumar, Kalbelia, Mayur etc. were also performed during the event.
